The best part is this wonderful outdoor experience is just
a few hours drive from the Dallas - Fort Worth area, Tulsa and
Oklahoma City!
Within 3 to 4 hours of leaving the congested big city rat
race you'll be pulling off the freeway and begin climbing into
the Kiamichi mountains headed for Broken Bow Lake and the
Beavers Bend State Park area.
|
|

Generally speaking we are a three to four hour
drive from Oklahoma City, Shreveport and the Dallas Fort Worth
area.

Coming in to Broken Bow from
northbound US 259 |
| If you don’t need to stop by a
store for supplies or get a bite to eat then you might take
the short Cut by not going through town: From south of Broken
Bow, Oklahoma, take US 259 north and follow toward Broken Bow.
Pay attention on your left, after you pass the billboard for
the casino, there is an animal hospital, prepare to take the next immediate
right – at Craig Road or at the Gammon Wrecker Service sign.
|
 |
 |
Go ahead and clear your mileage
at this turn because we will give you distances from here.
Continue east on this road 6.1 miles and you will come to a
fork which will curve left – You go RIGHT on to the dirt
cutoff: - (the first picture is the approach to the area where
you will veer right) |
| You are back on asphalt with that
right turn; take it .7 miles to the end of the road (Your
odometer should say 6.8 from the Craig Road turn off.) Make a
left at this dead end which looks like this: |
 |
 |
You are now traveling east again
and will pass some chicken houses, you will come to a cattle
guard and the road is no longer paved. Its open range from
here folks so keep your eyes out for cows, horses and small
critter families. After you have gone about another 1.9 miles
or 8.7 on your odometer, you come to another right or left
turn only |
|
Take another left. You’ll will go
past some more chicken houses and look for the Wild Goose
Canoe sign. At 9.0 miles you will take your second right |
 |
 |
For Riverbend Lodge and Madison’s
Moose Manor, turn right now and follow this road down around a
downward curve and you will see your cabin on your left.
Riverbend is the larger one set back on the river |
|
The Madison is facing you as you
approach. |
 |
 |
To go to Riverdance: go straight
past the yellow Wild Goose sign and you will cross a cattle
guard, take that immediate right at the red building and we
are the second cabin on your left – chocolate brown with a
light tan roof |
To Go Through Town: From south of Broken Bow, take US 259 northbound
and follow into Broken Bow. Go through the town just past
Wal-Mart (on your right) and turn right (or go east) on Hwy
70. You will go approximately 7 miles and turn right on an
asphalt paved road where there is a small white “Little House
on the Prairie style) school (Tiner School) on the southeast
corner. This road is right before a bridge going over the
Mountain Fork River, so if you go past the bridge you have
gone too far! Go south on this road a few miles until you see
a blind curve of this road back to the west. Keep going
straight (or South) on this road at the curve. Do not follow
it back west towards town. You’ll go straight less than a mile
and come to a stop. Now follow the directions above from
picture 3.
